There's No Time to Chicken Out Now!

The time has come! Next week Don't Panic They're Organic! Farm will be presenting our marketing plan to the board for approval to become the next big thing in organic poultry processing. We would like to make our goal a reality in the year 2012.

We have recognized our potential customers and competitors, as well as finalized and addressed internal strengths, weaknesses, and possible external environmental opportunities and threats that we may encounter along the way.

For example:
  • Customers: Health conscious individual
  • Competitors:  Wise Organic Pastures and other local organic poultry farm
  • Strengths: Knowledgeable agricultural team, and strong RD and marketing team
  • Weaknesses: New company and lack financial resources
  • Opportunities: Growth and brand awareness
  • Threats: Recession, unpredicted weather, and competitors
However, with relentless pursuit of quality, combined with our extensive background in agriculture and sheer passion we will propel the business into profitability. We have also calculated out the costs of raising our new little farm. We have currently estimated an increasing profit as we become more established. As a new company though, we view a negative profit the first year, as we lack the proper financial resources, but in no time will see great profits the years following. Don’t Panic They’re Organic! will succeed in developing a profitable business through the use of our two competitive advantages, true humanitarianism and excellence through quality.  We are in pursuit of ultimate quality coupled with the genuine care of a small, local grower.
Don’t Panic They’re Organic! Farm's will be the leading organic poultry farm in Temecula, CA with a rapidly developing consumer brand and growing customer base.  The guarantee of hormone-free, naturally raised, free-range organic poultry will be very appealing to customers.
Marketing will play a vital role in the success of Don’t Panic They’re Organic! Farm. Don’t Panic They’re Organic! must build a brand around the organic products it offers by heavily promoting itself through local advertising campaigns. A strong emphasis will be put on keeping existing customers and building brand loyalty through programs focused on staffing, experience, and customer satisfaction. With minimal start up costs and extensive employee knowledge, Don’t Panic They’re Organic will become profitable within the first few months of business.

  1. This sounds like a successful pursue. I was wondering, after your company becomes profitable, would you be interested in merging with other organic farms to increase sales volume?

  2. Do you a strategic plan to acquire smaller stores to increase market share and profits? I hope to see your business to be a competitor to wholesale foods in the future!

  3. How will you be distributing your chicken to customers? I know of some farms that do online ordering and will ship to your home or drive to the farm to pick up--kind of pricy though if its shipped, and pretty far if you want to pick up. You will outcompete other farms if you distribute chickens to Whole Foods, Sprouts, or Mother's.

    1. I think having both as options would be a great idea. Being able to order online and deliver would fulfill a lot of customer's needs, especially because most people who go out of their way for good healthy food, don't mind paying a little extra. Also marketing it to health stores like Whole Foods and Mother's is a great idea because your mission and objectives match up so well with those stores and the customer's that shop there.

  4. That sounds great. If you can publish your marketing mix, that would be great. But I believe you will succeed with this business definitely.

  5. It seems like having your little farm will help your business produce quality products. Since your company is targeting custard who are looking for healthy food then the farm will help you deliver your mission. Your company will produce few products but try will be very good quality products. That's I'd a great idea especially because it is quality food offered to people.

  8. This is a strong start up plan. Especially your emphasis on marketing humane and healthy natural farming is definitely will appeal more and more customers in the future because we are now using too much hormones growth and artificial things in our food industry nowadays.

  9. This is a great plan but you could see some stiff competition from other brands in the market that are offering the same sort of fresh organic products. The toughest thing for your plan will be grasping a share of the market

  10. This will the start of a successful business. No doubt, your company will suffer a low profit the first year, but as loyal customers spread the word your profit will be pretty big. I would suggest advertising your products through TV's first and then target other medias. We all know TV is one of the largest media out there.

  11. Your business might be new, but with your brand being recognized by customers maybe supermarkets might sponsor you to sell your organic chickens.

  12. I think promoting peoples health is great, but I heard organic food is expensive. if the taste is rich, with good prices, you could potentially supply for fast food. I hear carls jr has a turkey burger isnt high on the bad stuff and costco just put in a turkey sandwich on their food court too. So the trend may be growing

  13. I always assumed the start up costs would be relatively high for new farms. Will you be financed by investors, loans, and/or self funded? Will you be taking advantage of government grants?

  14. Organic chicken will provide better insight and popularity for lots of fast food chains as well. Chipotle produces their own poultry directly, which reduces costs and also shows they take care of their product. It'll be the same way for new companies looking to use organic product.

  15. It looks like you guys have definitely figured out who your target market is and what they want. My question is, how will the pricing be since it is farm raised and organic?
